The April general meeting was held on April 14, 2026.

Agenda Item 9.01: Re-purpose the use of elementary ELA funds

As part of a previous referendum, we have been accumulating funds related to English and language arts.  The original purpose of the money was fulfilled years ago, but a previous board had a different interpretation of the rules around spending any remaining money from that fund.  The plan is to discuss this at CBOC next week.

The motion to move the discussion to CBOC carried unanimously.

Agenda Item 8.18: Formative Assessment

Amy pulled this off the consent agenda to discuss it in public.  A recent class-action lawsuit involving the contractor and product here (Curriculum Associates, iReady) was brought by parents in California and Massachusetts, accusing them of profiting off of student data.  Amy read out loud the part of our contract that would forbid any such use of student data, so if we were to determine that they were doing this, they would have breached our contract.  We're generally happy with the wording of our contract, and if anything from the class-action lawsuit looks like it'll affect us, we'll deal with it then.

The motion to approve the contract with Curriculum Associates carried unanimously.
