December 9, 2025
The December general meeting was held on December 9, 2025. The meeting was uneventful and straightforward. All motions were passed unanimously.
Patton was not present.
We had two candidates apply for Baqir's vacant seat, but on Saturday, one of them dropped out, so Stephanie Ingram will be our next board member by default. There is legal precedent (with our name on it) that says that if there is a board vacancy and if there is exactly one applicant, then that person must be seated.
We'll swear Ingram in before the CBOC meeting next week.
Last week, Troncoso resigned, so we'll be going through the same process all over again for Nominating District A, the entire City of Wilmington portion of Christina School District. We'll be accepting applications soon. If you're a reasonable, normal person who lives in the city, please apply!
Superintendent Joyner presented the board with her intermediate goals, completing the prep work for monitoring her progress toward the goal. Going forward, every meeting should be centered around her progress toward the intermediate goals and ultimately her progress toward the 2026 goal (next year, we'll establish true, 3-to-5-year goals, but for now, this will do).
Now that we're back in DSBA, one of us needs to show up to their monthly meetings. We'll figure out who based on the meeting schedule. Hopefully when we're back at 7 members it'll be easier to schedule some of these things.
