I've been doing a lot of data analysis on the 2025 county tax bills, and I'd like to share that with you.
The tl;dr is this: after reassessment, residential properties grew in value at a higher rate than non-residential properties. This shifted the tax burden from corporations to homeowners.
After reassessment, we would have expected about half the houses to have increased payments and the other half to have decreased payments. However, 93% had increased payments while only 7% had decreased payments. Homeowners are subsidizing massive million-dollar tax decreases for corporations like Delmarva Power, Chase Bank, M&T Bank, etc.
