There was a special meeting on May 14, 2025, to approve the new superintendent contract.

Agenda Item D: Review and Approval of Superintendent's Contract

Motion: Yes (carried: yes)

At the May meeting, we instructed our legal counsel to begin contract negotiation with Deirdra Joyner, our next superintendent.  Those negotiations had wrapped up, and we approved the contract that both parties were happy with.

As I mentioned at the previous meeting, I wanted to make sure that AJ from Effective School Boards weighed in on our contract to ensure that it was crafted in a way that is most compatible with the Effective School Boards framework.  AJ weighed in; Amy Trauth merged his changes into the document; and our legal counsel made sure that the new terms were clearly defined in a vendor-agnostic way.

Joyner starts her first day as superintendent on July 1, 2025.  Remember: Shelton is still the superintendent through June 30, even though he is on indefinite administrative leave due to a board action taken for no discernible reason back in 2024.
